Would “The Breakfast Club” be any good as a movie without the pot? Explain?
I’m Hare! asked:
Up until they pull the marijuana out and get stoned none of the characters have anything to say to one another, but all of a sudden they light up and poof magically they are talking themselves silly. Do you think the writers stared at one another across their typewriters and said “How to we get these kids to talk?___I know let’s get them all baked and have them spill their guts.____Brilliant!” What do you think.
And yes the movie is on at this moment.

What kind of stupid question is that? Of course not!
wowww…i never thought about it that way…I do think they would have ended up talking if they didn’t smoke….there was a little small talk before they smoked where it seemed like one person was interested in the other person’s life….for example, when Bender asks Claire which parent she likes more…or when Andrew asks Bender to describe his home life after Bender makes fun of Brian’s home life…but I don’t think they would’ve ended up understanding each other afterwards…the pot helped them to loosen up…which is not exactly a good thing lol…but hey, the movie is definitely a classic for a reason!!!! Definitely in my top 10 fav. movies of all time…..
It was a John Hughes movie! Though I admit it’s hard to imagine it, I think he would have found a way. I mean originally in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Charlie Sheen’s character was a much bigger part that was all about pot. Even after that part was all but removed completely the movie was still great. Go on google and type in Ferris Bueller script if you don’t believe me. It’s actually worth the read to get the would-be R rated version, at least if you liked the movie.
