What are my chances of getting into Harvard?
EB91 asked:
I have a 3.5 GPA, I am a sophomore in high school, I do extracurriculars, and I have a grandfather who attended Harvard and his brother got his doctorate from Harvard Medical School. My grandfather served on the Harvard admissions board, he was the president of some club at the school, and he donates money to them. His name was even in a book of donors. I am a very good writer and I write for fun, so I think I could do a very good admissions essay.

thats all up to YOU.
not your grandfather’s connections or what someone else will tell u.
Probably about 1 in 5, so 20%. The relative thing helps a bit, but if they let in everyone who had a close relative go to Harvard, they’d never get any new families.
So far your English skills are not up to your GPA.

If you think someone on Yahoo!Answers can really give you worthwhile advice, I suggest you aren’t Harvard material.
First off, alot of things are about who you know. if your relatives are stong enough alumni then i bet you could. however, you didnt mention your SAT score. most kids i know who applied to harvard with 4.5 gpas and high sat scores didnt get in.
you know these things really are unpredictable. I would say try and do your best and see how things turn out.
