How likely is it for someone to ACTUALLY make a decent living as a writer?

electrickshadow asked:

How likely is it for someone to ACTUALLY make a livabe decent income as a writer?
How long does it take?
Do you HAVE to have a publishing agent?
Is there any special schooling required?
Do you have to pay anything to get started?
And how do you even get there anyway?

I want to write beauty & wellness articles for magazines but probably not be tied to just one title. And novels like Babysitters Club kind of thing.

What are my chances of getting into Harvard?

EB91 asked:

I have a 3.5 GPA, I am a sophomore in high school, I do extracurriculars, and I have a grandfather who attended Harvard and his brother got his doctorate from Harvard Medical School. My grandfather served on the Harvard admissions board, he was the president of some club at the school, and he donates money to them. His name was even in a book of donors. I am a very good writer and I write for fun, so I think I could do a very good admissions essay.

How do I get my staff excited about newspaper?

canereadtu asked:

I’m the editor of my high school’s newspaper and we’re getting desperate. We have about 8 core people who generally contribute as best they can. Their content is not at all up to where it should be, but I don’t complain because I’m happy we’re getting anything done at all.

What can I do to make it less of an academic club and more of a fun activity? I need an incentive for my writers.

club for my friends and me?

#2 asked:

Okay, so I am a spy, and a couple of my friends are spies too. We want to have a spy club, but don’t know where to start. Could you please give me some suggestions on how to start it, what should some of the rules be, and just how to go about doing all of it?

We also want to make some sort of “spy i.d.” card too. I know spies don’t give away their identification or anything like that, but it’d be for our own personal enjoyment and to prove that we are in the club. What would be a good layout, like what to have on it and stuff? It’s going to be laminated because my mom bought me this laminating stuff for my birthday (I love to laminate things).

Thanks!

Please no mean answers! I’m only 12. I understand that my wording makes me sound older, but I am taking a long time to ask this question because I concentrate on my wording and spelling because I also want to be a writer when I grow up so I need to practice now so I’m really good then.

You work for a company that plans to spend a large sum of money on a new sports club for its staff. Employees?

sidra s asked:

Q.1
You work for a company that plans to spend a large sum of money on a new sports club for its staff. Employees have been asked to submit their ideas for such a club in memo format which should contain suggestions for sports activities, recreational facilities and any other relevant points. Write a short report in memo format that you would submit to the General Manager of your company.

Q.2No matter how carefully a company chooses its credit customers, there will be times when a bill goes unpaid and steps to collect must be taken. The writer of a collection letter wants to get the money owed and maintain goodwill. This is a complete process in which step by step, the use of language is done very carefully by giving maximum space to others. You have to write on the use of language only during this process of payment through various stages with examples.

What’s a good way to relinquish your anger when people are mean to you?

Ian asked:

Well the other day I applied for a writing club, and I put a lot of effort into it. Now I find out later that it was denied, so I go up to ask them why and they just said “It needs more details” in a very bland and rude way. So I responded with “that’s it? Can I get any constructive criticism?” and he responds with “YES, put more details”.

Now if this wasn’t enough, they go on to say later that it sucked and that I’ll never be a good writer.

I’m really angry right now, but I usually like to be nice and gentle. What are some good ways to supress your anger :|?

R & P, Unusual question for you, Anyone know why the directors & writers lives were?(Patti Smith video too)?

Pragmatic About Some People Now asked:

R & P I have an unusual question for you, does anyone know why the directors & writers lives were threatened who had shows on tv in 1990 to 1991 for one show & another one that was on from 1996 to 1999 & that had certain phrases & organizations/clubs mentioned like Owls & Roosters & having phrases like “They’re a cult Peter” & “The Owls are not what they seem” One of these shows used a Patti Smith song which the imagery used was pretty cool for her “Horses” song to say the least. Videos of these shows & Patti Smith’s song in one of them–

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSOdg4z1Y50
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKDaBr-EQNA
The thing is there is organizations called the owls & the roosters that actually exist & they are even part of a larger organization. The larger organization they’re part of has other smaller organization one of which a member of theirs has a president in the white house now.
Here’s a scene with singer David Bowie & it’s director/writer David Lynch is also in this same scene of the movie of one of these shows came after the show was on TV–
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NncojrgQRqk
Here’s a scene from one of these shows with David Duchovny of X-Files fame in drag–
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s0VuCSRAew
Here’s another scene with David Duchovny on that same show not in drag in a suit–
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVHxdYy7UIo
Inquiries may wonder some things but government branches & agencies are part of the bigger picture. Yes, Twin Peaks was the name of one of the shows but, here’s a link with the name of the other show–
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwYPAk40beE
The other show on the link I just posted had a profiler after sicko nut jobs, on most of the shows, especially at the beginning. However he(Frank Black’s character) realized the organization who hired him was not with the good intentions he thought they were. “Owls” & “Roosters” hints say a lot. For another clue, “Skull & Bones” clubs as they’re called are involved with “Owls” & “Roosters” also. These Organizations are involved with oil & defense companies & CEO’s & banks & more. Also ever heard of “Merovingians”? These things are all linked as part of a larger organization with other smaller organization? Got the clues yet? Here’s a link with more clues–
http://www.answers.com/topic/merovingians.
Here’s more links for clues–

One of these links mention “Owls” too by the way.
